Tyga has reached a settlement with his landlord, WHO confirms.
“There has been a settlement reached to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, the terms of which are confidential,” Danny Abir, attorney for landlord Gholamreza Rezai tells WHO.
“My law partner, Boris Treyzon, will appear in court Friday morning to ask the judge to quash the bench warrant since a settlement has been reached and our client is satisfied,” Abir continues.
The settlement follows a judge’s decision to issue an arrest warrant on Tuesday, Aug. 9 after the rapper failed to show up for a court hearing.
Tyga, 26, has been embroiled in a legal battle over a Malibu home he rented in 2012.
According to court documents obtained by WHO, he agreed to pay $16,000 every month for the house and stopped paying rent three months after moving in and abandoned the house “sometime prior” to Oct. 31, 2012.
Rezai, who attempted to have the rapper evicted prior to him abandoning the home, discovered that he had inflicted major damages to the house, equivalent of $480,285.
However, when the “Make It Nasty” rapper recently purchased a Mercedes-Maybach for his girlfriend Kylie Jenner on Saturday, Rezai was upset, arguing the money should have gone towards what Tyga owes on the landlord’s house.
Tuesday’s hearing was meant to address Tyga’s financial standing, but because of a lien on his property and the fact that he didn’t show up to court, “a lien was created … including any property gifted to a third-party, to be applied toward satisfaction of the $480,285.00 worth of debt” – which means Jenner’s Maybach could have been taken away.
On Wednesday, Boris Treyzon, the attorney representing Rezai, spoke with WHO about Tyga’s legal situation after failing to appear in court on Tuesday.
“His history in this case has been that he’s ignoring this obligation and many others,” Treyzon stated. “This is not the only judgment that is against him. I think we are the only ones who took it this far, because it’s a large amount. We take our representation very seriously and we will continue to do it until our client is satisfied. Hopefully, now he understands there are repercussions and we will continue to push this matter forward. We will go wherever we have to go to make sure our client is paid.”
The rapper and Jenner are vacationing in Turks and Caicos this week in celebration of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s birthday.
