With only four weeks to go until their nuptials, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have locked in the key players to bring their dream day to life, including the baker, photographer and florist. While Kensington Palace has been open in sharing these, and other details, of the wedding preparations, one element remains a tightly-guarded secret: what will the bride wear?
Meghan, who is “hands-on with all elements of the wedding [prep],” a royal source has said, reportedly chose her designer and had her first fitting in January. While labels including Erdem, Ralph & Russo and Alexander McQueen are rumoured frontrunners, Meghan’s friend, French designer Roland Mouret, sparked buzz in February when he spoke about a “collaboration with her,” before adding, “I’ve already said too much.”
The star herself once dropped a hint in an interview with Glamour magazine. Asked to nominate a favourite celebrity wedding gown, she said “Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Everything goals.” (The late Bessette-Kennedy wore a simple, slip-style frock by Narciso Rodriguez to wed JFK Jnr in 1996).
Counting down the days until May 19, WHO asked two Australian designers—Steven Khalil and Georgia Young—to sketch their dream vision. “I would love to see Meghan in something that goes directly against tradition,” says Young. “Wouldn’t it be amazing if she walked down the aisle in a bridal jumpsuit!”
