Following on from its highly successful first and second seasons, Mike White’s comedy-drama series The White Lotus was officially renewed for season three.
Speaking to its popularity, season one of The White Lotus received 20 Emmy nominations across 13 categories and ten wins, the most wins of any program that year, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
The second season, which aired in 2022, proved to be just as, if not more, popular with a batch of new characters and a stunning location that had us itching for a vacation.
To say the third season has big shoes to fill is an understatement, but based on what we know thus far, it shouldn’t be an issue.
What happened in The White Lotus season one?
Set at a luxury Hawaiian hotel, season one of The White Lotus followed a group of white, wealthy Americans on vacation as the resort staff catered to their every whim – no matter how unreasonably chaotic.
Tackling larger issues such as race, class and gender, the social satire also moved to uncover a mysterious death teased in the very first episode (which you can stream now here).
Bringing the season to life were actors Murray Bartlett, Jake Lacy, Steve Zahn, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Natasha Rothwell, and Sydney Sweeney, who all received 2022 Emmy nominations for outstanding acting in the limited series.

What is The White Lotus season two about?
Making its return with seven drama-packed episodes, the second instalment of The White Lotus was set in an all-new location: an exclusive Sicilian resort, in Italy.
Along with a fresh backdrop came a wave of new guests and employees as the season followed their various exploits over the span of the week – a similar theme to the previous season.
While season two had an entirely new cast, there was a familiar face in Jennifer Coolidge as she reprised her role as spiritually seeking socialite Tanya McQuoid – a role that saw her take home the 2022 Emmy award for best-supporting actress in a Limited Series.
Fans also saw the return of Tanya’s love interest Greg played by Jon Gries, as they were joined by F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Beatrice Grannò, Tom Hollander, Sabrina Impacciatore, Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Will Sharpe, Simona Tabasco, and Leo Woodall.

What can we expect from The White Lotus season three?
While we don’t know too much about the upcoming third season just yet, we do know that it will follow a new group of guests at another White Lotus property.
And, according to the new teaser trailer, the next season of The White Lotus will be set in none other than Thailand. Oh yes, we’re headed to Asia.
Reports suggest that since the first two seasons were filmed at Four Seasons resorts, it’s likely that season three will follow suit, with four properties in Thailand located in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle.
It comes as no surprise really that this would be the case, as Mike White had previously hinted that season three may take place in Asia.
In a clip pegged at the end of the season two finale, he said: “I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
We’ll also have an entirely new cast this season, including Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, and Tayme Thapthimthong.
Although, season one star Natasha Rothwell will return to reprise her role as spa attendant Belinda.
