If you aren’t a millennial, you probably have no idea who the hell James Charles is or why his name keeps making headlines. In short, he’s a 20-year-old beauty guru, influencer and YouTuber who has over 15 million subscribers and 15 million social media followers. While he’s well known in the beauty community, a few weeks back, he was caught in a feud so bitter, some were convinced it’d spell the end of his career in the spotlight.
Basically, he lost over two million loyal fans (who he calls his “sisters”) after his former friend and fellow YouTuber Tati Westbrook exposed him online for attempting to “trick a straight man into thinking he’s gay” and backstabbing her by going to her direct competitor and promoting their products in exchange for extra security at Coachella. Days after Westbrook’s video— which racked up over 43 million views— went viral, Charles broke his silence and refuted her allegations in a video titled, “No More Lies” where he told his “truth” and provided receipts which disproved Westbrook’s shocking claims. The whole thing was messy, convoluted and overly hard to follow, but that’s the gist of it. Oh, and by the way, they’re no longer on speaking terms.

Since the very public scandal unravelled before our eyes, Westbrook has kept quiet. However, Charles is back doing what he does best—networking. After attending Kylie Jenner’s skincare launch party last week for her new brand, Kylie Skin, Charles was spotted hanging around the billionaire again over the weekend, this time sitting next to the reality star at fellow YouTubers Austin McBroom and Catherine Paiz’s 3-year-old daughter Elle’s birthday party. Jenner attended the celebrations with her daughter, Stormi.
In a video posted to the hosts (better known as the Ace Family) channel, Charles— who, of course, was wearing his own merchandise from Sisters Apparel— can be seen sitting next to Jenner, who is bouncing her daughter on her lap, as the pair sing “Happy Birthday”.
It’s important to note that Charles and Jenner have been “friends” for some time now. In October 2018, Jenner and Charles collaborated on his channel. Charles has also been spotted at various of Jenner’s product launch parties and always speaks highly of Jenner’s cosmetic brand, Kylie Cosmetics.
While most have avoided being seen with Charles since he was embroiled in the scandal, Jenner doesn’t seem to care about the controversy. After all, her best friend hooked up with her sisters boyfriend, Tristan Thompson!
