While the red carpet may have lacked appearances from the usual icons like Rihanna, Blake Lively and Jared Leto, all eyes were on Mona Patel and her stunning ensemble.

Who is Mona Patel?

Born in Vadodara, Gujarat, Mona Patel is a prominent figure in the US entrepreneurial landscape. Born in India, Mona relocated to the United States to pursue her higher education at Rutgers University, before settling permanently in the country in 2003.

Since then, Patel has built a million-dollar empire committed to making a positive impact on society and at the heart of her endeavours lies Couture For Cause, a non-profit organization that seamlessly blends her love for fashion with her philanthropic pursuits.

Through Couture For Cause, Patel, a Forbes Next 1000 honoree, has leveraged her platform to support meaningful causes, raising substantial funds and donations through the auction of one-of-a-kind couture pieces, many sourced from her personal archive.

Behind Mona Patel’s Met Gala 2024 Look

Her Met Gala debut in 2024 saw Patel shock fans with an incredible custom mechanical butterfly look by Iris Van Herpen.

Styled by Law Roach, the fashion genius acclaimed for his partnership with Zendaya, Patel’s look quickly went viral online for its unique shape and moving parts, with an array of kinetic butterflies encircling her arms and fluttering their wings in slow motion.

“I wanted my debut look to be something that celebrates my heritage and also combines my love couture, and when I heard of the theme, Iris Van Herpen seemed like the obvious choice,” Patel told Vogue India before the event.
