The Home and Away actress was obviously ecstatic when she won, saying in her acceptance speech:

“33 years, I’ve done this amazing show. And I am thrilled and honoured.”

“Before I forget, this is going to be pride of place next to my 1974 Wagga Wagga Drama Festival Best Actress. And it’s true, it’s absolutely true. That’s when I went, ‘This acting thing is kind of good! Maybe I will be better at it than I am at teaching.'”

“I want to acknowledge all the other nominees, all the beautiful, fierce women of all ages. And I am the eldest! If you live as long as I do, it’s fantastic. And of course, lovely Hamish. You are a brave man, darl, thank you.”

Lynne also thanked her fellow nominees: Ally Langdon, Hamish Blake, Poh Ling Yeow, Julia Morris, Lisa Millar, and Sonia Kruger

Earlier in the evening, she also took home the Silver Logie for Best Actress in a Drama for her performance in Home & Away.

The Gold Logie winner first worked as a primary school teacher before pivoting toward her passion – acting.

She performed in stage classics like Bye Bye Birdie and West Side Story before her big break came: Home and Away

In January 1993, Lynne stepped into the role of Irene Roberts, originally meant as a short guest arc.

But by October 1993, she was a full‑time cast member.

Over the next 32 years, Lynne carved Irene into a beloved Aussie matriarch: recovering alcoholic, cancer survivor, foster mum, crash survivor, mistakenly jailed – and always a source of heart and humour.

In 2014, Lynne became the longest‑serving female actor in an Australian drama series, a recognition of her stamina and loyalty to the role.

And in 2021, the actress released a bestselling memoir Acting Up: Me, Myself and Irene

Despite three decades on-screen, Lynne never received any major award nominations until 2023, when she finally earned her first Logie nomination: Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress, which she ultimately lost to Kitty Flanagan.

In February 2025, Lynne announced she was going to leave Home and Away

Her final episodes are due to air in August and she’ll soon hit the road with The Grandparents Club stage tour across Australia.
