Matt Agnew sent shockwaves through the Bachelor mansion last night when he decided to give this year’s villain Monique Morley the final rose, despite Abbie Chatfield sensationally claiming she called him a “dog c–t” and a “disrespectful pig”

Although many fans of the popular Channel Ten dating series were livid he didn’t send the lingerie designer packing, Matt set the record straight while appearing on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show this morning, revealing he wasn’t convinced Monique was behind the c-bomb scandal.

“I still didn’t have complete clarity about what happened,” the 32-year-old said. “I had a fantastic date with her and there was a really strong connection there and I didn’t have enough information to make an informed decision. I needed more time.”

He continued: “The decision came down to where I have the strongest connection and who I see a potential future with.”

Former Bachelor contestant Julia Hyde— who was eliminated last night— has since defended Monique, claiming Abbie had twisted her words.

“Apparently it was a conversation – the girls were by the pool while everyone was tanning and just making jokes,” the children’s entertainer told Ten Daily. “Some of us talk silly sometimes, like with accents and things like that. So I think the comment that Mon made was taken out of context because it was like a joke.”

The brunette also pointed out that it was part of a private conversation and insinuated that Abbie’s actions were an act of betrayal.

“I think as women, we should always support each other, encourage each other and lift each other up,” Julia said.

Last night, Monique landed herself in hot water when her on-screen enemy Abbie Chatfield revealed to she called Matt she’d talked badly about him behind his back. Despite several contestants siding with Abbie, revealing she did call him a “dog” and a “pig”, the lingerie designer was adamant those words never left her mouth.

“Woah… I would never, ever say that,” the blonde bombshell insisted when Matt took her away to question her over the whole incident. “I am genuinely shocked because every time I talk about him to the girls it’s in a positive manner. It’s obviously something the other girls have said or made up to get me out of the house. I don’t speak that way at all.

Now, ladies and gentlemen, we finally know the truth.

The Daily Mail has obtained leaked text messages between an unnamed Bachelor contestant and an unidentified friend. The written conversation between the pair explosively claims the Bachelor producers encouraged the women vying for the astrophysicist’s heart to take Abbie’s side in exchange for an appearance in the upcoming season of Bachelor In Paradise

“Loads of us would bag [Matt] out after he got with anyone. The Abbie/Mon thing just came from nowhere,” the contestant replied when her friend asked, “what’s the go with this dog thing?”
