Will Smith has paid a touching tribute to boxing great Muhammad Ali, who died on June 3 at age 74, after a short battle with a respiratory illness.
The Hollywood heavyweight stepped into the shoes of the man born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr for his Oscar-nominated role in 2001’s Ali, and described the late champion as “My Mentor & My Friend.”
Posting two photos to his Facebook account, Will acknowledged the indelible impact Ali had on both him and the world.
The last few days weren’t all about reflection for Smith, 47. He spent the first weekend of summer at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia with his nearest and dearest.
Joining wife Jada, and long-time pal DJ Jazzy Jeff, Will took to the stage with his daughter Willow, 15, to perform a rendition of classic track Summertime.
