Yikes, the second trailer for Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’ just dropped and it’s terrifying

BRB, freaking out.

Last year, the first trailer for the horror film Us dropped. Now, a follow-up teaser has been released, and you bet it’s just as creepy.

Riddled with masks, monsters and supernatural elements, in two-and-a-half short minutes, everyone has been left traumatised by its horrifyingly realistic storyline. And that’s exactly what Oscar-winning director and longtime horror fan Jordan Peele was hoping for.

“For my second feature, I wanted to create a monster mythology,” Peele told Entertainment Weekly of Us. “I wanted to do something that was more firmly in the horror genre but still held on to my love of movies that are twisted but fun.”

When asked what fans can expect from the upcoming horror film and if he could provide any more details as to the storyline, Peele remained tight-lipped. However, he did admit that Us exposes the hidden flaws in society. And that’s what will make it eerie.

“Stories about monsters are one of our best ways of getting at deeper truths and facing our fears as a society,” Peele said. “Us is about something that’s become an undeniable fact: the simple truth that we are our own worst enemies.”

The story is set in the present day and follows Adelaide and Gabe Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke) as they take their children to visit Adelaide’s old childhood home for the summer. Paranoid and haunted by her dark past, Adelaide begins to worry something will happen to her children. And as night falls, her worst nightmare comes true as her family is confronted with four home invaders.

Talk about a holiday from hell!

To prepare Black Panther actress, Nyong’o for her role, Peele gave her 10 horror films to watch in the hope of creating “a shared language” while filming. These included: Dead Again, The Shining, The Babadook, It Follows, A Tale of Two Sisters, The Birds, Funny Games, Martyrs, Let the Right One In, and The Sixth Sense.

Peele’s latest venture comes after the great success of his 2017 film Get Out which left viewers shaken and spooked.

The premiere date of “Us” has been pushed from March 15 to March 22.
