What is the French approach to beauty?
If I can describe the French beauty with only two words, I would say natural and sophisticated. French women like to work with their natural beauty – radiant skin, effortless hair, makeup that can’t be seen on the skin with just a touch of colour on the lips or eyes.
I like to think the key of the French style is the rule of three – hair, makeup, outfit – so focus on two and play down one.
What protocols are a must for every French beauty routine?
As French women don’t like to wear much makeup, a good skincare routine is important, with a double cleanse and good hydration with natural ingredients. French women love micellar water, and it is something we start using from a young age. Our beauty salons don’t offer as many advanced treatments at affordable pricing compared to Australia so we often do facials at home with homemade recipes or quality products that can be found through pharmacies. French women also love keeping their nails natural and short with a nice touch of colour. They prefer natural nail treatments.

What fragrance rules do you live by?
As a good French person, I cannot leave the house without perfume! It’s a ritual, like taking my keys. French scents are more floral while Australian ones are more earthy and natural. I think fragrances are part of our identity. For a lot of people, once you find your fragrance, you keep it and are loyal.

How would you describe the French approach to makeup?
I think the number one rule is no makeup should be seen on the skin. French women are more into BB and CC creams than full coverage foundations. The skin needs to breathe and look like skin. The classic red lip is always on-trend. A classic Parisian look is a natural complexion with a touch of mascara and a red lip.
