On Wednesday, NBC announced that the actor will be joining season two of the show (which is up for five Emmys) for five episodes and is set to play Grace's (Debra Messing) new boyfriend, Noah.
From what we have seen so far, Noah and Grace bond over their hatred over television, taxis as "chatty redheads."
"This cast is at the top of their game," Schwimmer said. "It has been one big massive gift."
Earlier this year, Messing, 49, teased her character would have a new love interest, but couldn't divulge any further details.
“We’re going to make you happy, I promise,” she told ET Online in July. “Things expand this season. We really get into each character’s private lives. Grace gets a boyfriend. Boom. That’s right. I’m not allowed to tell you who, but you’re gonna be so excited.”
The actress also suggested that we will see a side to Schwimmer in the newly-rebooted show that we have never seen before
"He's as far away from Ross as he can possibly get because he's already mastered Ross," she told Variety. "I think people will be excited to see him in our world playing a different part."
Schwimmer will also be joined by a series of other guest stars such as Matt Bomer, Alec Baldwin, Jon Cryer and Chelsea Handler.
Season two premieres on October 5.
