Head back to the Swinging '60s with new crime series Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries. Watch star Geraldine Hakewill discuss the new show below.
This new spin-off of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, the beloved ABC crime series starring Essie Davis, makes quick work of answering all the questions you’re inevitably going to have – basically: how are the two shows and their characters connected? – and gets on with the messy business at hand.
In this opening episode, that’s the murder of a model who had at different times worked for two rival department stores. Who knew bridal shows could be so deadly?

Set in 1964, Modern Murder Mysteries has every chance of being as successful as its predecessor thanks in large part to the luminous performance of Hakewill as Peregrine Fisher, who takes to the detective business with great gusto.
She’s ably assisted by a well-known cast that includes Joel Jackson, Libby Tanner and Catherine McClements. (Starts Thurs., Feb. 21 at 8.30pm; Channel Seven) 3.5 stars
Gavin ScottA pop culture enthusiast from a young age, Gavin is equally passionate about great pop music (’80s synthpop, ’10s dream pop), gripping TV series (Friday Night Lights, The Handmaid’s Tale) and trips to the cinema (I love a blockbuster as much as anyone, but I’m done with the superhero thing).
