Rumours of his potential departure come after the latest radio survey showed the program's dwindling ratings. Earlier this year, 2Day FM Breakfast with Grant, Ed & Ash fell 1.1% in the last survey to just 3.1% audience share.
However, if Denyer's decision to pull the plug on his radio hosting gig is due to his overly busy schedule, we can't blame him. In addition to his morning radio duties, Denyer is also the host of Dancing With The Stars and Channel 10's Celebrity Name Game.
In recent months, Denyer has suffered a few blows. In March, the affable TV personality was injured his back after using a mallet to hammer in some pegs in a paddock on his farm.
“He found out yesterday he’s got an annular fissure, which is a tear in his lower disc, so it’s incredibly painful and it basically makes it impossible for him to walk, sit, or do anything other than lie on his left side,” Denyer's wife said at the time. "He’s in a lot of pain and it’s really difficult to watch. It took me back to when he broke his back 10 years ago because the pain is so intense when he moves that you can’t help but get quite angry, and that’s not in his nature.
“Also on top of that, he feels like he’s let the world down, he’s let you guys down because he wants to be at work and it’s a really busy period, so he’s just doing his best.”
Following a lengthy recovery process, Denyer told TV Week in May that he was eager to make big changes in his personal life.
"I need to be more disciplined about how I take care of myself," he told the outlet. "In the past few months I've stopped going to the gym and I feel you can handle more when you are stronger. It was always the perfect storm of overlapping jobs. It's about finding the balance again."
