Another side effect of life in the spotlight – and 231,000 Instagram followers – is that she’s gone through her first real heartbreak publicly. Earlier this year the bubbly blonde split with Aussie model Ethan Hay.
“I have always been honest with my fans and I feel like I would never want to betray people but also navigating being a teenager is difficult,” she muses. “I did post about my love life with Ethan. We’re still wonderful friends, we still text each other. I know he’s doing super well and there is nothing but love. I’ve only ever had support from my fans and if there is ever judgement from anyone, there’s no point giving hate back.”
No stranger to social media trolls, Deeble has been forced to grow a thick skin.
“You need to be conscious that if you are in the limelight, people are going to have mixed opinions about you,” she says. “They’re not always going to have positive feedback because people are always going to have opinions. I don’t think it’s a bad thing because it’s freedom of speech. If you don’t agree with what I wear, I don’t get offended by that because that’s just your opinion. When people are being purposefully nasty, that’s when you’ve just got to ignore it.”
So, what is she really like when the stage makeup is removed and there’s no Insta filter?
“I’m kind of boring,” Deeble admits.
“I really just dance and eat a lot of food and take very, very, very long baths and sleep. I think the thing is that with me working so much I don’t have anything scandalous to hide. Unless you count eating fried cheese and sleeping? I’m honestly just chilling with my camembert.”
On the cusp of hitting the big time in Hollywood thanks to her upcoming role as Princess Roxana in Secret Society of Second Born Royals, the starlet has to decide … is she ready to move to the US?
“I don’t think we’ve properly thought about it at this point just because I’ve only been back for, like, eight weeks,” she explains. “I’ve just re-done my room, I’m being a teenager now. When you’re 18 you can legally work by yourself over there, so I don’t know. I don't think I want to move to the States right now. I’m happy here. I love Australia. I kind of want to pull a Chris Hemsworth if I ever get super famous and just live in Mullumbimby, and just surf and eat a lot of cheese and have long baths, that’s my aim. And then fly over for work.”
