After her recent revelation that she is studying to become a lawyer, Kim Kardashian has taken to Instagram in a bid to prove she’s serious about her career move, and has shared a photo of herself surrounded by law books in an attempt to halt the naysayers and non believers.
Kim, 38, announced last week that she is studying to become a lawyer, and wants to take the bar exam in 2022.
Needless to say, we were shook when we heard the news!
Her recent Instagram photo shows Kim studying with her two attorney mentors, Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney, who are all surrounded by a book on torts, a white binder and a couple of documents that appear to be practice tests.
And the KUWTK star has also posted a lengthy caption to eloquently hit back at the haters.
“Last year I registered with the California State Bar to study law. For the next 4 years, a minimum of 18 hours a week is required, I will take written and multiple choice tests monthly,” Kim explains in her lengthy Instagram caption.
“As my first year is almost coming to an end I am preparing for the baby bar, a mini version of the bar, which is required when studying law this way.”
The reality star never graduated from college, but in California, it’s legal to study the law privately.
She went on to say some have told her to “stay in her lane” and “I’ve seen some comments from people who are saying it’s my privilege or money that got me here, but that’s not the case,” she said.
“I want people to understand that there is nothing that should limit your pursuit of your dreams, and the accomplishment of new goals. You can create your own lanes, just as I am,” she continued.
“The state bar doesn’t care who you are. Everyone can take this route if you live in a state where this is allowed. It’s true I did not finish college. You need 60 college credits (I had 75) to take part in ‘reading the law’, which is an in office law school being apprenticed by lawyers.”
The mum-of-three continued to explain that by no means is her law journey an “easy” one.
“For anyone assuming this is the easy way out, it’s not. My weekends are spent away from my kids while I read and study,” she explained.
“I work all day, put my kids to bed and spend my nights studying. I changed my number last year and disconnected from everyone because I have made this strict commitment to follow a dream of mine – It’s never too late to follow your dreams.”
Kim is following in her father's footsteps. Her dad, Robert Kardashian who passed away in 2003, was a lawyer who gained national recognition as O. J. Simpson's friend and defence attorney during Simpson's 1995 murder trial.
