"Miley is not asking their mutual friends about Liam’s new relationship. She doesn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. She is not checking in on Liam as they do have a very few mutual friends," a source close to the pop sensation turned Black Mirror actress told Hollywood life.
"They have not spoken in quite some time. They barely spoke after the break-up. They’ll always love each other deep down and friends close to them feel they both still do love one another."
Liam went public with his 23-year-old model girlfriend Gabriella on January 13. The loved up couple were spotted locking lips during a beach date in Byron Bay.
“Liam feels comfortable with Gabriella. His family approves of her and really likes her, which is very important to him," an insider told US Weekly of their relationship after photos emerged of the couple spending time with Liam's family.
“They’ve known about each other for a while, but he just started seeing her for a few weeks now,” the source told the outlet last year, adding he's formed a "strong connection" with Gabriella. "Liam is very close with his family, so he wouldn’t introduce them to a girl unless it was serious.”
The hunky Aussie's decision to finally flaunt his romance comes after he and Miley officially cut ties and settled their messy divorce. Unfortunately, their separation was far from amicable, with rumours swirling Liam requested a third party be present while they divided their assets due to Miley's irrational behaviour.
“Miley and Liam have agreed to put their differences aside and meet for mediation talks – before their messy divorce spirals out of control,” a source close to the former couple of 10 years told British publication, Heat World in December.
“They’ve both calmed down now and Liam just wants this chapter done with, so he can move on. Liam was angry and bitter in the beginning, but his family calmed him down and he started to heal— especially when he realised he was falling in love again."
The couple announced they'd parted ways in a joint statement last year.
