With her sculpted body, golden brown locks, thick Columbian accent and brilliant acting skills, it's little wonder Sofia Vergara has been the highest paid actress for the past six years.
According to Forbes, last year the Modern Family star—who plays Gloria in the hit comedy series—reportedly made a whopping $AU57.7 million. That's $AU21.5 million more than the highest paid film actress in the world, Emma Stone.
Now, in an interview with Health, the 46-year-old finally discusses how she has been able to craft such a prosperous career and what keeps her motivated to stay on track when the chips are down.
“I’ve been working for almost 30 years. So being able to do something that I love in the entertainment business, and on top of that being able to make money? It’s been a wonderful experience,” she said.
The businesswoman admits that the key to her success is remaining confident, and not sweating over the small things.
“I don’t sit crying about something—a job I don’t get or a deal that doesn’t go through,” Vergara admits. “Also, I think that it’s important to show that you’re confident — even when you don’t know what you’re doing, you know? The way you carry yourself is very important,” Vergara said. “There’s nothing worse than somebody who feels insecure, who talks like she’s not supposed to be there … You just take a deep breath and do your best.”
While Vergara appears to breeze through life with a smile, the humble mum-of-one—who split from her husband Joe Gonzalez when her son was two— admits that behind closed doors, life as a single mum is somewhat challenging.
“It has not been easy. It’s been a lot of work, but it makes you feel rewarded for all the sacrifices — like missing my son’s birthday here and there and not being able to be present all the time for him,” she said.
