“Eyes are a giveaway in life,” Hoda told him admiringly.
“Whenever you say her name – it’s just cool to see true love 25 years later,” she explained, referring to the way Hugh’s eyes light up when he speaks about his wife.
Hugh and Deborra were married in April of 1996 after meeting a year earlier on the set of the Australian TV show, Correlli.
The pair have successfully avoided the drama of Hollywood, and have remained happily married ever since.
After Deborra suffered two miscarriages, the pair adopted their children Oscar, born in 2000, and Ava, born in 2005.
Hugh celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Instagram earlier this year, sharing a series of snaps from their wedding, where Deb sports a fantastic min-90’s hairdo.
“Being married to you Deb is as natural as breathing. From nearly the moment we met … I knew our destiny was to be together,” he penned.
“In our 25 years - our love has only grown deeper. The fun, excitement and adventure more exhilarating; the learning even greater. I’m forever grateful to share our love, our life - and, our family together,” the actor added.
“We’ve only just begun. Deb, I love you with all my heart!” he finished the caption.
Hoda also touched on Hugh’s down-to-earth nature, which is one of the qualities that has seen him remain one of the most beloved actors in Australia and worldwide.
“When you sit and visit with Hugh, you will never think that he’s Hollywood, you will think that he’s your friend,” she recollected an industry friend telling her.
“X-Men was my first real movie in America – I was 30. Now, at 30, you know who you are, right?” Hugh explained.
“So, if someone hands you, for example, Sexiest Man Alive – I only try to mention it once in every interview,” he joked with a small laugh.
“I’m like ‘I do remember a good, solid 10 years of literally not being noticed and getting turned down at every corner, so it’s weird … I think it helps that I’ve had some rejection and some real-life experience.”
