Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for its Hillary Swank and Rose Byrne-starring sci-fi thriller, I Am Mother... and trust me when I say the film's premise is stranger than Bird Box's.
Filmed on an Adelaide soundstage by an all Australian crew, the trailer fleshes out the film's plot of a teenage girl (Clara Rugaard) who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by a robot (voiced by Rose Byrne). One which was specifically designed to repopulate the earth after human extinction. Told she's the last human on Earth and is being raised to save humanity, their unconventional yet seemingly unbreakable bond is tested when another human who is decidedly not dead arrives with worrying news.

Directed by Grant Sprouse, following its international debut at the Sundance Festival earlier this year, Netflix picked up the film which is slated to be released on June 7.
Brace yourself, folks. This one's going to be weird.
