Dare I say it, but I truly believe the series may not only resurrect Lohan’s career (something she desperately needs) but might also add a bit of variety to our diet of heavily scripted reality TV dating shows, which at this stage are just so bloody predictable.
As someone who has followed Lohan from her 2004 pop hit “Rumors” to those recent humiliating but hilarious dance moves in Mykonos, I’m down for whatever Hollywood’s most scandalous redhead has to offer. And judging by the posters which have been released for Beach Club, we can expect her to be dressed in an array of bikinis and kaftans that might as well be sponsored by Camilla herself.
But if you want something more than flowing beachwear and loads of hot young eye candy from your reality TV obsessions, it’s pretty much guaranteed Miss Lohan will bring the drama.
“I’ve gone through so much in my past,” she says, posing in a peacock chair on an exotic beach in the trailer for the MTV show. “People have always given me trouble for going to clubs, so why don’t I just open my own? The self-proclaimed “boss bitch” adds: “I want to build an empire here.”
I have no idea exactly how the actress is going to manage in the gritty hospitality industry – that’s not really the point of Beach Club, is it? – but if the experience of her former friends Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie on The Simple Life are anything to go by, the show will not be short of laughs. •
