Ajay Rochester is no stranger to the reality TV game. After sharing her own journey to lose more than half her own body weight and drop eight dress sizes in the best-selling 2001 book Confessions of a Reformed Dieter—and it’s 2005 follow-up Lazy Girl's Guide to Losing Weight and Getting Fit— she hosted The Biggest Loser during its ratings peak from 2006 to 2009.
Soon after the show wrapped, she fled to Los Angeles with her then 10-year-old son Kai to avoid negative media attention she copped after being charged with welfare fraud in 2008. “The media just wrote lies after lies after lies,” she said in a 2017 interview. She was exonerated, and there was no conviction, “but by then the witch hunt had destroyed my career,” she added.
After falling on hard times, in 2012 she returned home for the reality-TV Show weight-loss competition Excess Baggage. She and her partner won the show, but in less than a year, she had regained nearly 50 kg.
Posing for bikini photoshoots and featuring regularly on TMZ, she became a tabloid mainstay before finding work as a casting director in 2016 which lead to work on yet another reality TV show called Cast Me! “I want to write movies, more books and make more TV shows. That’s what I want to keep doing,” she said last year, adding “Man, I’d do I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in a hot second.”
