Dastyari went on to explain that the 26th of January is a day of mourning for members of Australia's Indigenous community.
“The counter view is If it counts as the national day of inclusion – and that’s the day everyone should celebrate and be happy it stops being a day of inclusion and people feel excluded, I think for the good of the nation, you’d be better off picking another day for it.
"When we pick another day there will be another group that say, we can't do that day this is when we should do it."
