When confronted by Jimmy over the claims, Jay admitted she had a brief romance with New Zealand's 2020 Bachelor Moses Mackay.
She was then sent home before the finale episode, leaving Brooke Cleal and eventual winner Holly Kingston.
However the 32-year-old cleared up rumours that she was only on the show for fame, revealing she had dated Moses long before he landed the role.
Speaking on Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley's Life Uncut podcast, Jay said she met Moses way back in 2015.
"I dated him literally when I was 26 and I'm 32 now. It was released that he was the bachelor five days before I went into filming Bachelor Australia so it was all a huge coincidence," she said.
"I dated the guy for a couple of months, it wasn't quite a significant relationship in my life. So I found this so irrelevant, I don't know why it was made such a big deal."
Jay said talking to Jimmy about the situation caught her off guard during their final date.
"I had no idea he was going to ask me about that because it was so irrelevant. So I do feel like it was a big part of the date unfortunately," she said.
The New Zealand born beauty said the rumours which plagued her time on the show were "over exaggerated on TV".
"There were a lot of really nice moments that Jimmy and I had that weren't shown and that was a bit upsetting," she said.
Jay spent most of her time in the mansion defending herself against the hearsay, with Steph accusing her of not wanting kids in the future and Tahnee claiming she wanted to place runner-up as it brings "more opportunities".
She set the record straight on rumours she never wanted to win.
"100 per cent, that never came out of my mouth. I would never, ever say that. And I'll take that to my grave. I would never say that, even as a joke".
The New Zealander described her time on the dating show as a "rollercoaster" but "overall positive".
"Watching it back it looks like I was on trial the whole time," she told New Idea.
Jay went on to reveal she had an inkling Jimmy was going to send her home on Wednesday night's episode as he was still "questioning her integrity".
"I kind of prepared myself to not get a rose that night," she said.
