The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed with PEOPLE that the 51-year-old passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital of heart disease. When asked whether his death had anything to do with the Coronavirus, the spokesperson for David said, "No".
David's partner of 18 years, Isa, has since released a touching statement to TMZ which reads: "He was kind and loving. He never held on to anything and was always very open. He was a devoted father, he helped raise his step-son who is now in the Marines. He loved the Yankees and Knicks.
"He loved going to the theatre with me. My favorite moment was family date night, because it wasn't just special for me but for the kids as well. He always made sure to end things with an 'I love you.'"

Jennifer and David began dating when the singer-turned-actress was only 15-years-old. Throughout the years, he attended several Hollywood events with Jennifer, most notably making an appearance at the Money Train premiere in November 1995.

After a decade long relationship, the couple called it quits just before her starring role in Selena. Many sources claimed her newfound fame and demanding schedule meant the couple was unable to spend quality time together.
After they split, Jennifer went on to marry Ojani Nova in 1997, however ended their romance less than a year later.
Then, in 2001, she married Cris Judd, only to split from the "Bringing Down The House" actor 11 months later.
In addition, she was also engaged to Ben Affleck but they called off their wedding.
