“[Getting checked is] the one thing I can proactively do every year that will stop me from getting [bowel cancer],” Jesinta continued.
“That's why I'm really passionate about talking about it, because it is a preventable cancer if you do the right things and stay on top of it.”
Speaking earlier this year to news.com.au, Jesinta – who is married to AFL star Buddy Franklin – revealed that she is being closely monitored after discovering she carries the same cancer gene as her mother.
“She didn't have any symptoms and just went for a routine test. It was a shock because she is so vibrant, my mum,” she told InStyle last year.
“We're just very lucky that she's still here.”
