"Jamie and my family have been close friends for 15 years but I had surprisingly only met him four or five times. He says each time I apparently saw him, I was very snobbish," she said with a laugh.
"I just didn't recognise him from when I was younger I guess. When we started dating, I discovered he even sent me a message on Instagram last year trying to gain my attention."
After running into each other at a family gathering, they hit it off, with Jess admitting she felt an instant connection with the dad-of-one.
"I finally noticed him at a family event. I hadn’t spoken to him much at all that day but he noticed me and started cracking jokes and I just couldn’t stop laughing. One way to my heart is to make me laugh so he got my attention that day and then asked me on a date the next day. We're literally inseparable."
Although Jess has dated a string of Australian celebrities— including Dan Webb and, of course, her ex Nick— she recently told Daily Mail Australia she's glad Jamie isn't in the public eye.
"He is not someone who just wants to be with you for media. He doesn't care what shows I've been in, he likes me for me. Obviously media is going to be a part of my normal life for a while but I can't have this forever, that would be a sad life. One day, I just want to take it easy and settle down with someone."
While it's still early days, Jess told the outlet she and Jamie have already chatted about starting a family.
"Jamie and I have actually had the conversation, we're trying to for kids soon," she said.
