Following a successful music career, Johnny won the 2012 season of Dancing With the Stars, a year later he began a three-year stint playing Chris Harrington on Home and Away.
In 2017 Johnny revealed he had been diagnosed with brain cancer and had undergone surgery to remove a tumour. Two years later he revealed he was in remission.
In November 2020 Johnny shared the devastating news that his brain cancer returned in a heart-breaking update on Instagram.
“After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned, though I will dig deep and beat this s*** disease again,” he wrote at the time.
Kepping fans up to date with his health, he confirmed in August 2022 that his cancer was terminal.
Thousands of friends, co-stars and fans flooded Johnny's Instagram page with tributes following the news of his death.
"My heart is broken. We loved you so much. Thinking of your family and all who loved you," Sally Obermeder wrote.
"Oh darling boy. ❤️ xx Sending love to all who knew and loved you. And there are so many," Kylie Gillies added.
"Shattered," commented Fitzy. "An absolute beacon of positivity. Johnny walked into any room and put a smile on everybody’s face. Gonna miss ya brother, watch over us."
More to come.
