From MAFS to true wedded bliss...
Jules and Cam became the first couple in Married At First Sight Australia’s history to tie the knot for real. In case you didn’t already know, the marriages on the show are not legally binding and are simply ceremonial.
So, to make things official, Cam proposed to Jules in the season finale of MAFS and they wed in a stunning ceremony in November 2019.
"Jules, to me you are nothing short of perfect. And one thing I do know, fate brought us together and for this I am so forever grateful,” Cam said when he proposed to his partner on television.
"Jules, I'm happy that I took this chance with you and I honestly can't imagine a day in my life without you."
"Yes! Of course I will!" Jules replied when Cam asked her to marry him for real. "Of course I'll stay married to you forever!"
Then came the reality TV wedding of the century! With Jules and Cam tying the knot at Beta Bar in Sydney, with 170 of their close friends and family in attendance.
The nuptials were also attended by MAFS co-stars including Cyrell Paule and Nic Jovanovic, while Heidi Latcham was one of Jules' bridesmaids.
“And just like that, it happened to top our Manly Cricket 1st Grade Premiership 2014/15 and become the best day of my life,” Cam joked of their special day on Instagram. “Marrying my best friend.. for the second time.”
Sharing a photo of herself walking down the aisle arm-in-arm with her dad, Jules joked of her nerves on the big day.
“You would think it would be a walk in the park second time round! " she wrote. “My Father said I was shaking more this time! Cams face makes me so happy.”
Not long after the wedding, the pair had more exciting news to share...
Baby on board! Jules and Cam announce their pregnancy
The couple announced that they were expecting their first child in an interview with Stellar in April 2020.
"I honestly thought it was going to come with a fight. Because of my age, I had done all the hormone testing, the egg count... so much is instilled that you're going to struggle because of your age," she told the publication.
Before welcoming Ollie, the pair shared a special Father's Day celebration together in early September. Cam candidly wrote:
"Special occasions like these are magic! Can I still claim it's my moment whether you're here or not on Father's Day little one?"
"Either way I can't wait & is something I've always looked forward to sharing with you both as a Dad & I will still classify this special First Fathers day as one to remember."
Ollie was born on September 29, 2020. Jules and Cam shared their first photos of their new family with WHO Magazine exclusively.
"It’s been an incredibly emotional time,” Jules told WHO. “We’re so in love."
“We’re on such a high right now and both feeling good, too. We’re adapting well to having this little man in our lives and tag teaming the jobs between us, but he’s such a good baby – so far. He’s very calm; all he does is eat, sleep, poo and repeat!” Jules told WHO.
“I’m just completely and utterly in love. Now that we’re home, I find myself just staring at him in pure happiness and awe,” added Cam.
As for picking a name, the pair had settled on one during their time on MAFS. But Oliver came a little later.
"Cam was away on a golf trip a few weeks before I was due and I was Googling names. I really liked Oliver because it made me think of olive branches and forgiveness," Jules revealed.
"I wanted a really strong middle name and when I found out that Chase means 'hunter', I was like, 'That’s it! He’ll be a little go-getter with a name like that.' From then on, he was little Ollie Chase to us."
Ollie Merchant's cutest moments
Ollie made his Instagram debut just a few days after his birth. The couple shared a video of little Ollie squeezing Jules’s finger.
“I would do it a thousand times again for you,” she penned. “Oliver Chase Merchant. Our little man has arrived, healthy and beautiful and my heart is full.
“We are home now and enjoying the love bubble and getting to know our lil man Ollie who has the world ahead of him."
Since then, Ollie has been the star of his parent's social media channels - and it's no surprise, considering how cute he is!
On Ollie's first birthday, Cam shared a snapshot into his first year with his baby boy.
“Happiest of Birthdays to my best little mate & our beautiful boy Oliver Chase” Cam wrote on Instagram.
“Incredible to think it’s been one year already & the amount of joy, challenges, laughter & love you have brought us is beyond words.
“I know you can’t read this but I do tell you every day & one day we will show you the mess you made when attempting to demolish your first celebration.”
In July 2023, Ollie got to experience travelling the globe with his mum and dad - joining them on a whirlwind European tour that included stops in London, the Amalfi Coast and Mykonos.
In an Instagram post shared from Ravello in Italy, Jules paid tribute to her son for being the ultimate travel companion.
"Little shout out to my little dinosaur for being most of the time, a great little travel buddy… your love for pasta, pizza and gelato and sleeping till 9.45 am was very appreciated... P.S apologise to everyone on any flight we have ever been on."
