Cam met Jules at the altar, which is standard for MAFS. However, the show’s ‘experts’ warned us that this might be ‘one of the strongest pairings’ the series had seen so far.
While we’re pretty sure that commentary was added when the producers saw how perfect Jules and Cam were for each other, we can’t help but continue to revel at their sweet, and quite normal, TV wedding.
They hit it off the second they saw each other, both grinning like high-schoolers.
The pair went on to have a smooth-sailing time on MAFS, which is rare for the ratings juggernaut, best known for its intense drama as the couples go through stark highs and lows.
Cam and Jules agreed while on the show that they should move in together afterwards, and have resided in Sydney ever since.
At their final commitment ceremony, where they shared updated vows, Cam got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, for reals, while we ugly cried on our couches.
The next step was another wedding, because if you’re celebrating twice, you might as well go twice as hard.
Their wedding was a televised event, via A Current Affair. Jules wore a stunning Velani gown with a fitted bodice and full, ruffled skirt.
Fellow contestant Heidi Latcham was one of Jules’s bridesmaids, and a number of contestants from their season also came along to the wedding.
Jules and Cam announced their pregnancy via Stellar magazine in April, 2020, where they appeared on the cover.
“First comes love marriage, then comes marriage love, then comes a MAFS baby in the baby carriage…” the headline read.
Jules shared the cover to Instagram, writing “We are having a baby!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ You heard it here so you know it's actually true!”
“And we couldn't be happier! I'm already so in love with my bump!”
Their baby, Oliver Chase Merchant, arrived on September 29, 2020, with the pair announcing his birth a few days after the fact.
They shared a video of little Ollie squeezing Jules’s finger.
“I would do it a thousand times again for you,” she penned.
“Oliver Chase Merchant. Our little man has arrived ❤️ healthy and beautiful and my heart is full.
“We are home now and enjoying the love bubble and getting to know our lil man Ollie who has the world ahead of him. ❤️”
“It’s beautiful,” she told WHO of motherhood in July this year.
“He’s just changing so much and becoming more like Cam every day,” she added.
“We couldn’t be happier, and we look forward to having another one!”
However, she admitted that there were challenges along the way as she adjusted to her new life as a mother.
“It’s been a juggle … having that me-time and putting yourself first, that’s not selfish, it’s actually good for your mental health,” Jules shared.
Ollie recently turned one, and the little family celebrated ‘Coco Melon’ style, sharing snaps to social media of Ollie’s park-based party, which was allowed at the time as restrictions began to ease for Sydney’s then-current lockdown.
“Happiest of Birthdays to my best little mate & our beautiful boy Oliver Chase✨” Cam wrote on Instagram.
“Incredible to think it’s been one year already & the amount of joy, challenges, laughter & love you have brought us is beyond words.
“I know you can’t read this but I do tell you every day & one day we will show you the mess you made when attempting to demolish your first celebration ❤️.”
In terms of career, Cam and Jules work mostly in the influencing space, but Jules also launched her shapewear brand, Figur, in 2020.
Fans of MAFS from around the world have remained enamoured with the couple as they go from strength to strength.
We’re keen to see what’s next from these ‘cool parents’ as they keep proving their power couple status.
