Two years on from her split, Julia further reflected on her personal journey within her marriage, sharing that she realised that the couple were "not necessarily growing in the same direction.'"
"Once you've got that in your headspace, the other person starts to become quite a pest. I think that's where patience starts to wear down to, 'I'm not living like this. How is this an example for my girls that this is an okay life to lead? No thanks'," she told the Australian Women's Weekly.
"How do I want to live the second half of my life? I don't really want someone else's instructions. So … see ya!"
Does Julia Morris have children?
Julia shares two daughters, Ruby, 17, and Sophie, 15, with ex-husband Dan Thomas.
Speaking to Australian Women's Weekly, Julia praised her two teenage daughters for their tenacity and resilience while coming of age in the midst of COVID lockdowns.
"They're not arseholes, for the want of a better expression... I don't think it's teenagers that are tricky, I think it's that adults don't really know how to parent them or speak to them or how to trust in their decisions and observations of life."
During the 2020 lockdown, Julia also shared that she had paid tribute to her daughters through two tattoos, with one being a copy of two-year-old Ruby's drawing and the other being three snails drawn by youngest daughter Sophie.
