Newly released audio from the 911 call made by Kanye West‘s doctor on the day of the rapper’s hospitalisation reveals the level of concern for his mental health.
In the recording, a male who identified himself as one of West’s doctors can be heard asking for paramedics. “He’s definitely going to need to be hospitalised. I wouldn’t just do the police by itself,” says the caller, whom TMZ identifies as Dr. Michael Farzam.
According to the LA Times, specific portions of the call regarding West’s medical condition were redacted to prevent the disclosure of confidential health information.
The 911 dispatcher also advises the caller to “keep an eye on” West, according to the Times. “Don’t let him get any . . . weapons or anything like that,” says the dispatcher.
“If anything changes, if he does become physically combative between now and when the police and/or paramedics get there, call us back immediately at 911.”

Sources confirmed to WHO on Wednesday that West was back home and “getting some rest” after being under heavy medical supervision since Nov. 21.
“Kanye is at home with Kim and the kids. He seems okay and happy to be home. Kim’s family is visiting,” a source close to the family told WHO.
“Kanye will continue to receive treatment and help with how to cope with stress. He needs to learn how to better balance his work and family life.”
West, 39, was hospitalised for exhaustion and sleep deprivation shortly after he canceled the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo tour and was involved in an altercation at the gym. He remained there over the Thanksgiving holiday, and an “overwhelmed” Kim Kardashian West frequently visited him during his hospitalisation.
“The only person Kanye trusts is Kim,” a source previously told WHO. “Kim does spend hours with Kanye every day.”
