The Bey Hive was buzzing about a possible DC reunion after much-talked about speculation that Michelle Williams, LaToya Jackson and LaTavia Roberson were dropping hints that they will be performing together again with Beyoncé at her rescheduled headlining sets at the Coachella Music Festival in April.
“I have no idea about any of that,” Rowland told PEOPLE at the Baby2Baby Holiday Party Presented by Toys”R”Us at Montage Beverly Hills on Sunday.
As for why she thinks DC fans have looked into the subtle clues so much, Rowland said she actually reached out to the followers herself.
“I just asked a fan about that. They were like because it’s just cool. They used the L word and said legends,” she shared. “I mean, I gladly accept that very much but it’s nothing that we recently talked about.”
The last time any members of Destiny’s Child took the stage together was in February 2013 when Rowland and Williams took part in the Super Bowl halftime show with Beyoncé.
The DC reunion rumor mill kicked into overdrive last week when the Bey Hive read into a photograph of Beyoncé wearing an AC/DC shirt with only the “DC” showing as a nod to a Destiny’s Child–related clue.
Additionally, around the same time as the AC/DC reference, Williams teased her Super Bowl outfit with a bee emoji while Roberson teased a forthcoming top-secret project. But it first all started when Jackson shared a throwback photo of the original group members in late October.
Beyoncé backed out of her headlining set at the 2017 desert music festival after her rep confirmed to PEOPLE that the high-profile performance was considered risky due to the advanced state of her pregnancy with twins Rumi and Sir.
Though Rowland denied any future DC reunion, music is very much still a part of her present day.
“2018 new music. What I’m excited about [fans] most to hear is probably stories I’ve never told on this album,” she told PEOPLE. “I haven’t released a record in five years.”
