Since filing for divorce in February 2021, Kim has been reinventing her style as she works to break away from her “Kimye” persona.
Fashion played a massive role in her relationship with Kanye, as she previously revealed her ex had almost total control over what she wore while they were married.
“I always just trusted in him, but it is not just about the clothes,” Kim revealed on The Kardashians in 2022.
“I was always the Kardashians with my sisters. Then I was Kimye. Who is Kim K.? That is the jump. How do I get there without Kanye?”

In fact, Kanye had such a firm grip on Kim’s styling that when she broke the mould and chose her own outfit to attend the attended the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards, he ridiculed her.
“He told me my career was over and showed me a picture of Marge Simpson wearing something similar,” she revealed on the show.
But it looks like Kanye was wrong – after all, would a woman whose career is over be invited to walk in a Balenciaga haute couture show in Paris? We think not.
Her runway debut sends a huge message to the world, one that proves Kim Kardashian is coming into her own style without Kanye.
She was clearly elated with the opportunity, sharing countless Instagram Stories to commemorate her walk after the surprise was revealed.
And fans were just as thrilled for her, sharing their praise across social media as Kim takes another step into the fashion world as her own woman.
“Fashion has always been something that I’ve always been really into. But I have never been the creative. I definitely see what I like but I have never really been the visionary,” Kim said on The Kardashians recently.
Perhaps her Balenciaga moment wasn’t just sending the message that she’s moved on from her “Kimye” era – maybe it’s also a hint at more fashion projects from her in the future. Watch this space.
