Our girl crushes aren’t just for reality TV stars or beautiful influencers, but also for strong, smart and capable women making big moves in fashion and giving men in high positions, a run for their money – literally.
This week Lacoste, one of the hugest fashion & luxe sportswear brands made history as it appointed British fashion designer Louise Trotter to take the creative director throne.
In a time where a lot of men are still holding the higher-level positions in fashion we are so happy to see a woman be given a head role at one of biggest fashion brands. This is a time of reckoning all over the world, and it’s great to see big companies embracing innovative and capable women to run the show.
Trotter expressed her excitement saying “I am delighted to join this French brand with such a unique heritage. For 85 years, the modernity of the Lacoste style lies in this singular fusion of sport and fashion. I am proud to contribute to the writing of a new chapter in its history."
It seems Trotter already has a great and relevant vision for the brand as it’s said that Lacoste’s in-house team was asked to put together “a range that salutes traditional 90s streetwear plucked right from the brand's archives—including bucket hats, oversized tracksuits, and of course, Lacoste's signature piqué polo.” We can totally see athleisure queens such as Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and Kendall Jenner sporting the revived ‘90s pieces!
The president of the Lacoste Group Thierry Guibery says “Her visionary approach on lines and materials, as well as her expertise in creating highly technical pieces will be real assets to strengthen the positioning of our collections."
Leandra Medine from the Man Repeller noting this Lacoste look as her one of her favourites
Trotter’s much-awaited debut collection for the French label will be revealed at 2019 Paris fashion week.
We are so excited to see more women in power in the fashion industry. We’re ready for it, we’ve BEEN ready for it!
