Maria also clarified that modelling isn’t her career, rather it’s something she does “for pleasure” and “as a hobby”.
In fact, the 22-year-old is currently studying in London to become a business lawyer to eventually take over her family’s pharmaceutical company.
Though she wouldn’t comment on the rumours that she and Leonardo are an item, she did weigh in on the sudden media attention and spike in social media popularity.
“I mean Instagram is one thing, real life is another thing,” she told Hughesy, Ed and Erin.
“I feel the messages, I feel the buzz going around my page, but whatever happens on Instagram is just a small part of it. I only focus on the good messages, no bad vibes.”
Speaking to her Ukrainian background, Maria said that none of her family are still in the war-torn nation but she prays for peace for her home country.
Erin praised the 22-year-old for having a “good head on [her] shoulders” and asked if she felt she was wiser than her years, Maria replying, “I do get that a lot!”
It seemed to be a subtle nod to the 25-year age gap between the model and Leonardo DiCaprio, who has a pattern of exclusively dating women in their early 20s.
Hughesy then tried to slip in a sneaky question about the movie Titanic, one of Leonardo’s most famous films, but the model laughed it off.
Maria and Leo were linked after photos resurfaced of them partying together in St Tropez back in July, however there’s no evidence of a romantic relationship between the two.
However the photos made headlines the day after it was revealed Leo had split from long-term girlfriend Camila Morrone, sparking rumours he had moved on with Maria.
