In December 2019, just three months after separating from wife Miley, Liam was photographed with Gabriella in Byron Bay on a brunch date with Liam's parents Craig and Leonie.
From that moment, the couple kept popping up on various dates including beach trips and hikes up to the NSW northern coastal town's iconic lighthouse. They even visited LA pre-pandemic in January 2020 and were snapped hugging outside a gym.
“Liam feels comfortable with Gabriella. His family approves of her and really likes her, which is very important to him," an insider told US Weekly of their relationship after the first photos emerged.
“They’ve known about each other for a while, but he just started seeing her for a few weeks now,” the source continued, adding he's formed a "strong connection" with Gabriella.
"Liam is very close with his family, so he wouldn’t introduce them to a girl unless it was serious.”
In November 2020, fans were finally treated to the first official Instagram couple photo... sort of.
To celebrate Luke Hemsworth's 40th birthday, the entire Hemsworth family and their respective partners had a Peaky Blinders themed birthday party in Byron Bay.
Chris Hemsworth uploaded a photo of himself and wife Elsa Pataky with birthday boy Luke and his wife Samantha, parents Craig and Leonie as well as Liam and Gabriella.
In the black and white snap, all eight are dressed in 1920s costumes and Liam's arm is lovingly wrapped around his girlfriend.
Whilst the couple keep things very private and low-key, Gabriella made a rare statement about her highly-publicised romance to the Daily Telegraph in Fenruary 2021.
Speaking to the publication, the Aussie model revealed how she stays grounded despite being all loved-up with one of the world's hottest hunks.
"I have a great support network who continually remind me of what's important," she said. "This is incredibly grounding."

It wasn't until June 2021 that Liam and Gabriella made their first official outing as a couple and Liam shared his first pics of his girlfriend.
The couple, alongside Chris and Elsa, attended the exclusive black tie Gold Dinner - a charity gala raising funds for the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation.
Liam shared two photos from the event to his personal Instagram account - in the first the two couples, dressed in their finery, pose for photos with fellow guests Lauren Phillips and Luciana Barroso, whilst the second is a more candid selfie of the Hemsworth crew at their table.
As for what Gabriella makes of her boyfriend's A-list ex? She's not too bothered.
“They’re both secure in their relationship and Gabriella isn’t worried that Liam has any lingering feelings for Miley and isn’t intimidated by their relationship,” a source told Us Weekly.
“Liam and Gabriella are really close and feel comfortable with one another. They connect over important topics and share the same values about family and life.”
