1. Start slow.

Want to enjoy a long-lasting affair with your eye make-up? Celebrity make-up artist Nigel Stanislaus advises skipping your eye cream: “Powder your lids instead. This creates a matte base to hold your shadow.”

2. Into the darkness.

Next? “Start with the darkest shadow closest to your lashline and blend up and out,” says Stanislaus. Continue to blend and remember the rule: “The further away from the eye, the lighter the shade should be.”

3. Add drama.

“Line the outer half of your upper and lower lashline with a dark eyeliner.” then smudge the colour in with a cotton tip. Curl eyelashes and then finish with three coats of mascara.

4. High brow affair.

Dramatic eyes can look our of balance if you forget your brows. Simultaneously sculpt and fill in with a brow gel, flush cheeks with blush, step into a cloud of scent and you’re ready!

Beauty tip!

Do your eyes before your base. That way, any shadow fallout can be easily eradicated with a hint of foundation or concealer.
