Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, using Laura Mercier products, created a very different look for Kim Kardashian West on her recent date night with husband Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Dedivanovic described Kardashian West’s look on his Instagram as soft and summery, taking inspiration from his recent holiday in Hawaii, where he admired the bronzed beauties parading the beaches.

How do you achieve a “beachy glam” flawless look?
“This look can be achieved with a beautiful sheer foundation, a soft highlight and subtle contouring with a light shade of bronzer. Kim had a natural lip with a bit of gloss. The eye makeup isn’t dark, just a thin smudge above the upper lash line. To me, the standout feature of this look is the lashes, which can be created with individual false lashes topped with a couple of layers of mascara.”
Any tips for a flawless foundation finish?
“The most important thing is to make sure you have the right colour. If you’re unsure of the tone or shade you are after, get a colour match at a counter. Also, perfect foundation is more than just makeup—it’s healthy, hydrated skin. Make sure you exfoliate and moisturise. I always use a primer under foundation. Now that we are ready for application, I think it’s a personal preference on how you apply it, but a sponge is always a good option for beginners. It gives a beautiful, seamless blend.”
The no-makeup makeup is so fresh for summer, how is this look achieved?
“By keeping makeup to a minimum! Dewy and light foundation, subtle contouring, natural brows and a light tea-stain colour blended over the eyes. Finish with a natural lipstick or gloss on the lips.”
Does this look suit all skin tones?
“The natural look suits everyone, all skin tones and any age.”
