MAC cosmetics shows model’s facial hair in recent Instagram post

And people were divided about it

It seems that beauty and make-up brand MAC is one of the latest companies embracing natural beauty.

While most fashion and beauty posts whether in magazines or on social media heavily Photoshop and retouch their images, MAC recently posted an image promoting their Chesnut Lip Pencil by makeup artist Matthew King without editing the model’s lip hairs.

The photo sparked some controversy and polarised the MAC and Instagram community.

Some Instagram users commented things like “”What about the mustache on her mouth?” and “Couldn’t Photoshop her whiskers out?”while a whole lot more were supportive of the brand saying “”To the model: we love and support you.” And “Love this image, keep up the good work, real is best!”

Beauty posts are often so airbrushed that consumers are regularly shown & given unrealistic beauty expectations. MAC also recently did another post featuring another lipstick that shows the model’s natural facial hair under her bottom lip.

We are seeing the trend of more “real” influencers coming through social media so it’s great to see huge iconic brands like MAC getting on this bandwagon.

Everyone has lip hair and facial hair so we are definitely supporters of showing all types of beauty, whatever that looks like. So, we say, well done MAC for embracing the realness.
