The views from Kangaroo Island are absolutely second-to-none so why not do something a little different and embark on an ‘active holiday’ to explore all of the island’s wonders.
Located off the coast of South Australia, Kangaroo Island is one of Australia’s hidden gems. So the beautiful destination is encouraging people to undertake an ‘active holiday’ by exploring the island along the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail.
The 61km, five-day hike requires a reasonable level of fitness, as you’ll be walking between seven to 14 km per day. So although it may be challenging, the views are experience will definitely be worth it.
If you’re lucky you’ll also and array of wildlife on your hike, from kangaroos, echidnas, wallabies, goannas and possums, to bandicoots, bats, frogs, platypuses and 271 species of birds. You also might be lucky enough to see seals, dolphins and whales off the shore.
You can choose to do it alone, or with a guide and for sleeping, there are four dedicated overnight camping areas along the trail that will supply you with basic needs.
