An oasis in the heart of the bustling city

You might not expect to find a truly memorable spa experience in a hotel, but the Chi Spa at the Shangri La will have you forgetting everything you know.

My husband and I visited Chi for a couple’s treatment at the luxurious hotel nestled above Sydney iconic harbour in The Rocks. Despite the hotel’s location in the bustling city, once inside the large ebony timber double doors of Chi Spa located on level two of the hotel, you feel miles away from anything stressful.

Before our treatment, we were provided with robes and slippers, and invited to sit in the cocoon-like seating pods sheltered by soft curtains, for tea. Before long, two massage therapists greeted us and whisked us down the dim-lit corridor for our 90-minute Oud Oil Treatment in a couples room.

The treatment commences with an hour massage, followed by a facial. Using Sodashi’s luxurious treatment range, the masseuse focused on my requested area, before continuing over my entire body.

By the time the facial came I was already in an unbelievably relaxed state – but it was the pressure-point facial massage that really blew me away.  It’s worth saving your pennies for and experiencing. Make sure you arrive about thirty minutes before so you can get into your robe and relax prior to your treatment and make a day of it by hanging out in the sauna or pool afterwards.
