So why did the picture perfect couple end things? Just two weeks before the break up announcement, Josh shared a loved-up photo of himself and Anna celebrating his 27th birthday from their Melbourne home together.
Anna admitted to fans in a YouTube Q&A that the intense Melbourne lockdown situation had been "testing" on her and Josh's relationship, and he agreed.
"We've definitely stepped on each others toes too much being stuck in an apartment, trapped," he said when asked how his and Anna's relationship was going.
"I'm sure heaps of people feel the same way. Sometimes in a relationship you need a bit of space from one another for it to be healthy, but Covid lockdown does not allow for that."
Anna and Josh shacked up together back in June, ahead of Melbourne's second lockdown and documented the experience on social media extensively.
The couple shared vlogs to their personal YouTube accounts explaining that they'd been looking at rental properties for a couple of months.
"This has been a long time coming, we've been wanting to tell you guys for ages but we were like 'We have to hold off and try and make it a surprise.' Finally it's out so we're super excited," Anna said in her YouTube video.
Anna and Josh may have won season two of the show, but Josh's twin brother Luke seems to be the one who's been the luckiest in love.
Just days before Anna and Josh's break up was announced, Luke, who also starred on Love Island, revealed that he had proposed to his girlfriend in Byron Bay in a romantic underwater setting.
"Took this girl diving today and popped the question at the bottom of the ocean! Was a moment I will remember forever," he captioned a sweet snap of himself and his new fiancée sharing a kiss.
