It can be tough to stay dedicated to your diet when those around you are cheersing the weekend at Friday night drinks, but luckily, not all hope has to be lost.

The invention and popularization of seltzers has given us the perfect low-calorie alcohol for those watching their consumption. And often pre-mixed cocktail-style drinks, or a glass of delicious, sparkly prosecco, aren’t too bad for your either.

While we’ve picked out some of our favourite seltzers for you here – we’ve also suggested some of our other favourite low-cal drinks, giving you a well-rounded list of options for your next night out.

White Claw

White Claw Hard Seltzer (4 Pack), $24, from BWS

White Claw is a favourite among seltzer fans, given it’s range of delicious flavours, like mango, grapefruit, and watermelon. These cute little cans are 4.5% alcohol, which is equal to 1.2 standard drinks, and only contain 100 calories per drink. These bad boys are around $8 a can and $24 for four.

Saintly Hard Seltzer

Saintly Hard Seltzer Holy Watermelon & Mint (4 Pack), $17, from Dan Murphy’s

Saintly seltzers have no sugar or carbs, and just 62 calories contained in their 250mL cans. With each can representing 0.8 standard drinks, they’re an excellent option for nights when you’re not keen to drink too much, or plan to avoid any serious kind of hangover. And costing just $17 for a pack of four, you’ll be keeping frugal, too.

moon-dog-fizzer-seltzer
Moon Dog

Moon Dog Fizzer (6 Pack), $24.99, from Dan Murphy’s

Another great seltzer option, Moon Dog Fizzer contains one standard drink in their 220mL cans, and only 90 calories per serve. The Tropical Crush flavour has hints of mango, orange, and pineapple, making it the perfect summer drink. You can also grab them in a pack of six for a perfectly reasonable price!

bacardi-mojito-rum-lime-mint
Bacardi

Bacardi Mojito (4 Pack), $22, from First Choice Liquor

These little mint-coloured cans are summery and delicious, made up mostly of mint, rum, and lime. They’re 114 calories per serve, which is probably toward the higher end of the desirable calorie intake spectrum, but they’re also light and easy to have alongside a Friday night dinner with friends.

manly-spirits-berry-blush-gin
Manly Spirits

Manly Spirits Gin & Tonic Berry Blush (4 Pack), $22, from First Choice Liquor

A berry-infused version of Manly Spirits Australian Dry Gin, these light, summery pre-mix bottles are another excellent drink for the warmer months. Including hibiscus flower, and Australian native lemon myrtle, the drink is complete with the inclusion of light tonic water. These vibrant purple drinks are around 64 calories per bottle, making them a great low-sugar choice.

brown-brothers-non-vintage-prosecco
Brown Brothers

Brown Brothers Non-Vintage Prosecco, $16.95, from Dan Murphy’s

If you’re a wine drinker, and find yourself not too keen on seltzers or pre-mixed drinks, a prosecco is an excellent low-calorie choice. The Brown Brothers Non-Vintage Prosecco has 70 calories per 100ml, and the bottle comes with approximately seven serves, meaning one or two glasses can keep your calorie count low!

Please remember to drink responsibly. If you or someone you know needs help, please call the National Alcohol and Other Drug hotline 1800 250 015 or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
