Taking to Instagram after the February 6 show, Telv explained: 'I can guarantee you that the producers would have told him he wasn't allowed to make any contact with his wife because you're not meant to talk to them.'
'If you're not around each other they don't want you to talk to them when you're not on camera,' he continued.
'So don't be too harsh to Sam, he's done nothing wrong... f**k you experts!'
Telv was famously paired with Sarah Roza on MAFS last year, but their relationship fizzled out not long after the series ended.
Speaking on the Today show just days after the episode aired, Sam attempted to defend his actions.
'I know, it is terrible. I went away for the funeral, I basically had a lot of phone calls going on and stuff like that and my focus wasn't on Elizabeth at all. It should have been,' he said.
Entertainment editor Richard Wilkins said, 'No kidding,' before Sam continued: 'Yeah, I didn't get the voicemail and...'
Co-host Lara Vella added: 'Sorry, you didn't get the voicemail or didn't have voicemail?'
'I didn't get it, didn't check it, nothing. I was completely off the radar,' Sam replied, before adding that he 'regretted' not making Elizabeth a priority.
