'I'm not ready to lay down and die. I want to experience life and live,' Mishel told her 51-year-old man over a cup of tea.
His mood became toddler-like, as if he was caught in the pouring rain without an umbrella. 'I best go and buy a Harley Davidson and a speed boat, and a jetski and you know, best buy myself a little aeroplane so we can jump out of it so we can skydive everywhere.'
His mood was insufferable.
Bravely, Mishel asked Steve what it is he'd like to do with their spare time.
'Where are your hobbies? Like, what are your hobbies then? What would you do?'
That's when he made a reference to his beloved ex-girlfriend and 2018 MasterChef winner, Diana Chan. 'I wanna go for a nice meal. I wanna walk in and say, "yeah, I've got a reservation for me and my wife." That's what I'd like to do.'
A barber AND a foodie. He's so inner city Melbourne.
'I like to order really nice food and a nice glass of wine.' His face was still moody and his cranky pants still firmly on.
Mishel was quick to remember Steve's age, snapping back, 'Like, for f--k sake. Like, we might as well go to the retirement village. At least they'll have planned activities for us.'
His response was short and sweet. 'I don't wanna talk about this shit anymore.'
Then he stormed out.
We're sure hope Mishel went and got herself a nice meal and a nice glass of wine. After ski-diving, of course.
