But fans of Margot don’t need to worry about not seeing her on the silver screen, the Aussie actress is set to star in another beloved franchise, with recent reports revealing she will star and produce in a 1960s-set prequel to the Ocean's films.
She’ll also star alongside Ryan Gosling next year in the hotly anticipated Barbie film.
But don’t expect to see Margot Robbie reprising the role of Harley Quinn anytime soon.
The Aussie actress, who took on the role of Harley in three movies over the span of five years is ready for a break - and is happy to pass the role onto none other than Lady Gaga.
The 32-year-old actress explained in an interview with MTV that she was “so happy” to see another actress step into the iconic role of Harley Quinn, following rumours Lady Gaga will star in the upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux
"It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor," Robbie explained.
"And I feel like in not so many cases are they female characters," she continued. "Queen Elizabeth I, but like beyond that — which I got to have a crack at as well, which I was honoured to do. I was like, 'Wow, Cate Blanchett did Queen Elizabeth I. Now I get to.'"
She also spoke on rumours that Lady Gaga will be next to take on the role, adding, "It's such an honour to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters who other actors get to have a go at playing. And I think she'll do something incredible with it."
