Are Lucinda and Timothy still together?
“It was a bit disappointing, but I suppose I just came to a point, really, recognising that we are really different. I need something different for myself,” Lucinda tells WHO.
“It was bittersweet. Sometimes when we let go and say the absolute ‘no’, that leaves space for the big giant ‘yes’ that’s more aligned.”
As much as Lucinda, 43, “was still holding hope” that things would work out with ‘Tin Man’ Timothy, 51, it was the Melbourne homestay visit that made her finally accept that his emotional unavailability was not the right fit for her very open heart.
“Both ways are super valid … but we do need to continually be choosing ourselves and what’s right for us,” she says.
But there’s no hard feelings between the pair and it’s not over – in fact, Lucinda says they’re still “good friends” and are grateful to have come out of the experiment with a genuine love for one another, albeit it a platonic one.
“We talk every other day, if not every day, we’ve been each other’s rocks throughout this journey,” she says. “He took my whole family out for dinner a couple of weeks ago in Melbourne, shouted us all to a beautiful restaurant. I love Timbo – he’s soul family.”
The cheeky reality star adds with a laugh, “He’s my 3am buddy – he’s my phone-a-friend!”
News of their friendly post-breakup status doesn't come as a complete surprise to fans, since the couple shared some choice words on radio throughout the season.
Timothy made some telling comments when speaking with Star 104.5's Gina and Matty, in which he let slip that he had caught up with Lucinda the evening before.
"Let's talk about you and Lucinda," Matty began. "Would you say meeting Lucinda has been one of the best things that's happened to you?
"I'll give you a little bit of a thing," Timothy replied. "We were out last night. It's amazing when we go to random pubs in the middle of nowhere. How many people actually love Lu. She's just one of the most amazing people I've ever met."
"We were lucky enough to interview her first really...and we fell in love with her," added Gina. "Has she changed you do you feel different now that you've been hanging out with her?"
"You can't help but soften and just be a better person around Lu," the groom replied.
Lucinda herself also made some telling comments the following day describing her relationship with Timothy as "so beautiful, so close, so special," in an interview with Hit Network’s The Pulse with Seany B & Emma G.
“It’s just a beautiful love story,” she added.
Earlier in the season as audiences watched Timothy and Lucinda's relationship struggle on screen, Timothy also made a number of comments during an interview on The Pulse with Seany B & Emma G.
When asked if he and Lucinda were still together, he didn't give a yes or no answer, but he *did* confirm the couple were still in contact with each other.
“Lu was at my place on Thursday night,” he explained. “I literally just got off the phone (with Lucinda) before you guys called.”
The interview also saw Timothy give a candid and honest assessment of the show, hitting back at fellow contestants who blamed bad editing on their portrayals.
"The edit is absolutely accurate," he confirmed. “I’m telling you right now, word for word everyone’s portrayal on that show is exactly how it is.”
“Everyone’s let’s say, ‘character’ is exactly how I took them, and I refuse when I hear these things, ‘they blame the edit,’ that is just a crock of cr*p.”
“You’re just pissed because a mirror has been put up in your face and you’re not liking what you see.”
Timothy also shared his strained relationship with Jack, which is currently playing out on television screens has not improved since the filming of the show.
"Jack, I’ve got nothing nice to say...Jack is exactly how he is on TV as he is in real life. I gave the boy a chance, he’s as thick as two bricks, worst human I’ve ever met.”
