In photos obtained by Daily Mail Australia— which were taken in October while filming the unconventional dating series— an emotionally distraught Hayley was pictured being ushered into a black vehicle by two producers who didn't let her out of their sight.
According to the outlet, the tatted-up bodybuilder wasn't allowed to mingle with her co-stars in the lobby of the apartment complex in case she picked a fight with David— who she wasn't living with at the time— or her on-screen enemy, Stacey Hampton.
Hayley and David's relationship reached an all-time low during this period when he discovered she'd hooked up with Michael Goonan. And while we're yet to see the blow-up play out on our screens, the gloves came off at explosive dinner party the next evening.
“The morning David found out Michael had hooked up with his wife Hayley the night before, he was absolutely ropeable and he went and confronted him about it," a source close to the former couple told New Idea. “David is a huge guy, he’s twice the size of Michael and he’s a professional boxer, too – he’s not someone you would want to have an argument with."
The truck driver— who has been outrageously open about disliking the woman the experts matched him with— is said to have spiralled out of control, with the spy claiming he was screaming at Michael and calling him a "gutless dog".
After stern words were exchanged, things took a turn for the worse, forcing MAFS execs to step in and separate the pair after David threatened to throw the first punch.
“The producers had trouble pulling him off Michael so one of the girls started yelling out to call the police, but the producers managed to shut the whole thing down.”
After the grooms cooled off and David finally calmed down, he did a piece to camera saying, “I’m really angry right now. I’m going to stay in my room because if I see Michael again, I will punch his lights out and he will be a pile of dust."
Despite clearly being in the wrong and doing the dirty on David, Michael was so shaken up by the confrontation that producers decided to send him to a hotel in Paramatta for a few days.
“They never had any security guards at the dinner parties, but after that incident, they brought them in at every one,” the source added.
MAFS contestant Vanessa Romito was the one to break the news about Hayley and Michael's secret affair. And in an explosive interview with TV Week, the larrikin confirmed he shared a kiss with Hayley after a boozy night out, however, says they were "just mucking around".
"We were all joking and having a laugh. We were mucking around with the phone and were like, 'Oh how funny would it be if this got out?'" he said of the naughty hookup.
"We were fully clothed, just being stupid, being loose, having fun, not really understanding the implications of what rumours can do to your life," said Michael who initially attempted to reject all involvement in the scandal while the cameras were rolling.
"We'd had a few drinks," he added, with Jonethen later revealing he was playing the 'Oh, I was too drunk to remember card'.
"It got to the point where I was like, 'Did I kiss her? Didn't I kiss her?'"
