Tessa Boersma is ready to rock the MasterChef kitchen.
The Criminal Statistician is a self-taught cook who is obsessed with fudge, toffee and sweet treats, likening her tastes to carnival fete foods.
Born in Lower Hutt on the North Island in New Zealand, her family moved to Brisbane in 2000, where she developed her culinary skills in the kitchen whipping up big family roasts.
Tessa hopes her immense knowledge of flavour balances will help her win the competition.
Tessa’s big inspiration comes from Rick Stein, Maggie Beer and Gordon Ramsay, and hopes to in time open a farm café.
Back at home is Tessa’s carpenter boyfriend of three years Eliot who encouraged her to apply for the show.
