Ethical Australian denim brand, Outland Denim is making its mark in the fashion world AND the ethical/charity world with extra thanks to Meghan Markle.
During her Royal Tour in Australia, Meghan wore a pair of black skinny jeans from the sustainable denim brand and that same week, the brand saw a 948% increase in traffic on their website. As a result of this incredible engagement, they were able to create an extra 30 jobs for women seamstresses in Cambodia – amazing.
Both Meghan and Royal fans around the world have been paying close attention and following Meghan’s style so it comes as no surprise that after being pictured in her black Outland Denim jeans, that the brand gained a lot of positive momentum.
Outland Denim focusses on creating jobs for women who face the threat of sex trafficking, slavery and exploitation in Asia, so being able to create extra jobs in order to help their plight is not only a wonderful outcome but a testament to Meghan’s stance on female empowerment.
Outlander Denim founder James Bartle was quoted saying “I cannot think of a more suitable person to carry the Outland Denim brand. The Duchess’ advocacy for issues of social justice and women’s rights completely aligns with the work that we do. We are absolutely thrilled that she chose to wear Outland Denim on this tour.” Bartle also stated in a recent article in RagTrader “This means women will be able to earn a living wage, provide for their children in terms of nutrition, care and education, and will gain new skills and confidence in a positive workplace environment.”
When addressing an audience at the University Of the South Pacific in Fiji, the Duchess expressed her thoughts on female empowerment saying, "When girls are given the right tools to succeed, they can create incredible futures, not only for themselves but also for those around them."
Well done Meghan, just reason 1000000 why we love you.
